Here’s this weekend’s creation. I think it has the frantic quality I was hoping for, and seems to work as well as I hoped, if not perfectly. Might try a biped next, or a pneumatic hexapod if the bits I’ve ordered ever turn up.
Seems I let this place die again. I can’t really get into the habit of wanting to blog stuff, or even to use Facebook for that sort of thing. But while I’ve got my Lego out, it seems a nice idea to try to post some of the stuff I build. Also nice to let them live on in some form after I pull them apart again. But it seems I’ll still have to answer to Suzanne if I pull this one apart…
Seems I managed to break a finger yesterday by skillfully falling off a kerbstone and punching the road before I knew what was happening. I’m normally good at tripping but not falling, but this was a full on sack o’ ‘taters jobbie. It’s only minor but now I have two of my favourite left hand fingers strapped together. This isn’t likely to be much help for monday’s BSL exam. So I think I’ll have to defer it to later. The upside of that is that I can go to the university juggling club, which normally clashes with the sign language class. So I guess my right hand can get even betterer than my left hand.
Just realised today’s date is rather fitting for the end of Dubya’s presidency. But then it doesn’t really work if you’re American and so can’t write the date properly.
Here’s to the new guy anyway. I’ll try not to think about how popular Tony Blair was for a while just after he was elected.
I did my first British Sign Language exam thing yesterday. Managed to get myself impressively wound up beforehand. Apart from the bits where I started correcting myself (I did the right signs in the end) I don’t think I did too badly. Yay me. Now to wait about 2 months to see if CACDP agree.
Apparently this is quite old, but I’d not seen it before. And it amuses me.
Thought I may as well put this here. It’s a video of my diabolo act from the 2008 Durham Juggling Convention show. It was a good run for me, complete with a spectacularly failed ending.
Not sure how new this is, but it’s great. For full understanding you need to bear with it until you can get to the list of abilities. Well, I’m still not sure that I understand the Nova Scotia bit.
Well hello. I’ve decided to ditch the old site. I wasn’t doing any updates here or on 2diabolo.net and it seems that Dreamhost’s do everything approach means they can’t do any of it adequately, so I don’t want to throw money at them any more. So I’m trying a blog format for this place and will re-host a static dump of the other site as it seems that people still want it to exist.
I’ve occasionally wondered if I want a blog, and I’m still not sure how much I’ll use it. I moved here for the convenience and the content management stuff, but it seems I have a ‘New post’ button now, so perhaps I’ll click it sometimes. Don’t get too excited now.
